It was February 18, 2003, along HWY 101 in Northern California. I was on my annual trek to visit friends in California and just take in all the really cool stuff there is to do and see in the State I grew up in when I happened by a small herd of Roosevelt Elk. It had just been raining and they were in poor coat. Here in California animals shed early I guess. However I was able to get some nice photos with a 100-400mm Canon lens set to 400mm of course. I did not want to get too close
